Diwali - November 2016

Last week the children learned about the Hindu festival Diwali -'The Festival of Lights.'  One of the highlights was a visit from a trained Indian dancer who taught all of the children an Indian dance.  To finish the week the children's diyas (clay lamps) were lit during the assembly.

Reading Workshop

On 4th November we had our second reading workshop for Key Stage 1 parents.  The parents were informed of the learning to read process and how they can support their children at home with reading.  At the end of the session there was an opportunity for each parent to read with their own child.   The meeting was very well attended and we were delighted with the response.

Year 2 Trip to Queen Elizabeth Country Park

On 21st June 2016 year 2 went to Queen Elizabeth Country Park to find out about different animals and their habitats. It was lovely sunny day and the children had a wonderful time exploring the long grass, woodlands and the pond. After lunch the children completed an animal orienteering course and there was even time to climb up a very steep to the top of the park. To quote the children ‘it was a fantastic school trip!’
