SOUTHBOURNE INFANT SCHOOL VISION

Our Intent;

At Southbourne Infant School we want our children to become creative, enthusiastic learners who develop a love of learning.  Our aim is to provide a broad curriculum which enables children to develop strong knowledge and understanding of all areas of the curriculum.  Our curriculum enables our children to be independent, curious and creative learners, preparing them for life-long learning and success.

Our Implementation;

We, the children, teachers, support staff, lunchtime supervisors and parents, aim to make our school a happy and safe place, by 'Following the Rainbow'. Our school values form our 'Rainbow', these are

  •  Respect
  •  Aim High
  •  Include Everyone
  • Never Give Up
  • Be Yourself
  • Open Your Mind
  • Working Together

Every child experiences a broad and balanced curriculum, which has an emphasis on the basic skills of language and literacy, mathematics, science and computing.

Children are taught through a series of exciting and engaging topics which involve as much first-hand and practical experience as possible, as well as allowing children to cover broad areas of experience and encouraging study in depth. The topics engage children’s natural curiosity, encourage them to think critically and develop a scientific approach to problem-solving. Our carefully planned curriculum goes far beyond the requirements of the National Curriculum, and has been planned using clear progression in each subject.  It develops children’s knowledge, understanding and skills in each subject. We pride ourselves in making the very most of our school grounds and local area. Each year group have educational offsite visits during the year, and we meet as many 'experts' and visitors as we can.

Our Impact;

As children leave us, they are enthusiastic, confident learners who are equipped with knowledge and many skills for their future lives. The rich, engaging and creative curriculum provides them with memorable experiences, they continue to have a love of learning and reach their full potential in the next stages of their education.
