Southbourne Infant School supports a variety of charities each year, this usually includes national charities such as Children in Need, Comic Relief, Sport Relief etc.
MELON MISSION We support a school in Kenya, that teaches street children from the slums in Nakuru. The school was run in an old cowshed, but now a new school has been built. Over the years we have raised many thousands of pounds which has made a huge contribution to the building of the new school. During October half term, Mrs Partridge and Mr Rogers travel to Kenya to work alongside the teachers for a week and to see how our money has been spent.
We hold an annual a sponsored walk around the school grounds, along with the children from the junior school. It is always fantastic to see siblings, family and friends walking together to raise money.
Every penny that we raise makes a huge difference to the children at Melon School.
The retiring collection at our Harvest Celebration each year at St John's Church is always donated a local charity called BEATS. The charity was set up following the 2004 Boxing Day Tsunami which claimed many lives. The charity works in Indonesia to support children's homes and schools, where we help to pay for a teacher.
